Chris Stephens MP tables Early Day Motion on accessible vaccines

On Thursday 4 March, SNP MP Chris Stephens tabled an Early Day Motion, calling for the vaccines and Covid testing to be made accessible for blind and partially sighted people.

Early Day Motions (EDMs) are submitted for debate in the House of Commons for which no day has been fixed. We are calling MPs to sign up to the motion and show their support.

Campaigning from Guide Dogs, Thomas Pocklington Trust, Sight Loss Councils and RNIB has highlighted the challenges many blind and partially sighted people face in getting their vaccines.

Visually impaired people report receiving vaccination invites in inaccessible formats, like printed letters. There is a lack of accessible information about the location of vaccine centres and public transport options to get to them. And in vaccination centres, there is poor signage and lighting, as well as a lack of awareness training for staff and volunteers.

EDM 1585: Accessibility of Covid-19 vaccination and testing for people with sight loss is available for MPs to sign on the House of Commons website.

Write to your MP to ask them to support the motion.
