Webinar recording: Bristol Sight Loss Council Mayoral Hustings (28 April 2021)

On 28 April, Bristol Sight Loss Council hosted a hustings with the leading mayoral candidates for the local elections on 6 May. The SLC teamed up with the Bristol Disability Equality Forum, Bristol Reclaiming Independent Living, Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People, the Independent Mental Health service user forum and WECIL. Candidates in attendance were Alastair Watson, Conservative, Sandy Hore-Ruthven Green party, Marvin Rees Labour and Caroline Gooch Liberal democrat. The webinar was chaired by Sight Loss Council members, Liz Illingworth and Anela Wood.

The candidates  answered questions about the costs of social care, concerns surrounding e-scooter safety, providing BSL interpreters at public meetings, the impact of Covid on disabled people and more.
