Did you, like many blind and partially sighted people, feel isolated during lockdown? Now that everything is opening up, have you found your confidence in travelling independently has been affected? If so, you are not alone!

Since lockdown, opportunities to meet and socialise have become a challenge as many blind and partially sighted people are not aware of what is available or have lost their confidence in taking up a new activity and meeting new people.

The York VI Forum will introduce blind and partially sighted people to a range of speakers who want to promote all that is going on in York, including fresh and new opportunities open to all.

Speakers include Martin Symcox TPT, Phillipa Bas British Blind Sport, and Vicky Smith My Sight York, others to be announced.

“We want all blind and partially sighted people to have the opportunity to be active members of their community. This will be a fantastic opportunity to see what is available to blind and partially sighted people in York and have a go at creating the perfect world of how we would like recreational activities to look in the future.” Iain Mitchell Senior Engagement Manager Yorkshire & Humberside

Find out what support is available locally to help you ‘get back out there’ post COVID. You will be able to learn more about the Sight Loss Councils’ work and input into how we continue to move forward to make York more accessible for blind and partially sighted people.

Tea and coffee will be available upon arrival & a free lunch will be provided, but spaces are limited so book in advance.

Please indicate if you are a vegetarian or vegan or have any food allergies.

If you have any questions or would like to find out more about the event, please get in touch with Iain Mitchell on iain.mitchell@pocklington-trust.org.uk or call 07914 770 909.
