Birmingham Hippodrome

The Birmingham Sight Loss Council work with Birmingham Hippodrome and Sightlines to improve and increase the frequency of Audio Description performances at Birmingham Hippodrome.

Birmingham Hippodrome features plays and musicals and with support from other organisations, provides Audio Description performances at select screenings. Audio Description allows those with low or no vision to follow the performance through providing descriptive narrative of the event taking place.

Birmingham Sight Loss Council member, Mark is a keen supporter of Birmingham Hippodrome and user of Audio Description performances. The above picture shows him and his guide dog posing in the foyer where a musical performance is taking place.

When Sight Loss Council member Mark moved to Birmingham and discovered AD performances at the Hippodrome, he was keen to get involved to promote AD performances for the local community. Mark even books his guide dog into the creche during the show, and helps to promote Hippodrome’s AD performances over social media.
