What support can I get to help with the cost-of-living?

Wednesday 30 November 11:00am - 1:00pm
Bristol Hotel, Prince Street, Bristol, BS1 4QF

Bristol and Gloucestershire Sight Loss Councils are joining forces to deliver their ‘What support can I get to help with the cost-of-living?’ event. We are also supporting Listening Month 2022.

We want to hold this support event because rises in the cost of living are having a bigger impact on blind and partially sighted people. This is when we already face additional, unavoidable costs, such as equipment, assistive technology, necessary taxis and support in the home.

We have a great line up of guest speakers, including the RNIB. Each will discuss what support is available to you, offering practical advice and tips.

This is an ideal opportunity for blind and partially sighted people living in Bristol and Gloucestershire to find out what support is available, and to join in the conversation.

Listening Month

As part of Sight Loss Council and Thomas Pocklington Trust’s ‘ ‘Listening month’, we will also be discussing ‘What matters to me?’

This is because nationally we are focusing our energy during November 2022 on reaching and listening to as many blind and partially sighted people as possible for you to have your say on all issues that are important to you.

We will use this feedback to inform our future planning. We will also nationally publish the findings of listening month and produce a “you said, we did” easy read summary that will set out the action we are taking, and share our findings with partners to inform their future work.

Alun Davies, Engagement Manager for Bristol and Gloucestershire Sight Loss Councils, said:

“We are really looking forward to holding this event between the two Sight Loss Councils. It is a great opportunity for blind and partially sighted people to come together and share what matters the most to them as a local resident”.

This free event is being held in Bristol, with the option to join via Zoom for those who cannot make it.
