Are you blind or partially sighted and interested in feeling more confident using London’s tram network?
Following the success of our Try a Train events, South West London Sight Loss Council is delighted to partner with Transport for London (TfL) to host its first-ever Try a Tram event.
Join us for a special opportunity to explore London’s tram network in a safe and accessible environment. This supportive, hands-on session offers the chance to learn about available assistance, meet TfL staff, and experience a guided tram journey alongside other blind and partially sighted people.
Whether you’re new to tram travel or looking to travel more confidently, this event is an opportunity to ask questions, build your knowledge, and gain first-hand experience of using the network.
During the event, you will:
- Explore station facilities: Discover the accessible features and services available at Wimbledon Station, including support for blind and partially sighted passengers.
- Learn about available assistance: Find out about the assistance offered at stations and onboard trams to help make your journey easier and more confident.
- Experience a guided tram journey: Travel by tram from Wimbledon to East Croydon, giving you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the onboard layout, facilities and announcements.
- Take part in a Q&A session: Meet representatives from TfL at East Croydon and ask questions about accessibility, assistance and travelling by tram.
- Return to Wimbledon Station: Put what you’ve learned into practice on the return journey with support available throughout.
This free event is designed to help you feel more confident and informed when using tram services. We particularly welcome people who are currently reluctant or infrequent users of the tram network.
Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If the event reaches capacity, we will operate a waitlist.
