Are you getting the full picture? Discover the fantastic world of audio description

Wednesday 14 September 6:00pm - 9:00pm
The Postal Museum, 15-20 Phoenix Place, London, WC1X 0DA

London Sight Loss Council invites blind and partially sighted Londoners to an exciting evening hearing about and experiencing audio description at the fascinating Postal Museum.

This event is now full.  If you would like to add your name to our waiting list in case others are no longer able to attend – please email Lucy Williams – Lucy.Williams@pocklington-trust.org.uk

About the event

We have a fantastic line up of guest speakers from the arts and each will discuss audio description within their field. This includes speakers from theatre, museums, galleries, TV, film, gaming, streaming services, Premier League football, research and RNIB. There will be time for questions and you can also experience a short audio-described tour of The Postal Museum and a ride on the Mail Rail. London’s secret underground railway.

This event will be a great way for anyone who has never experienced audio description to find out more. You will also discover a whole new way to participate in these areas of entertainment.

Jonathan Abro, London Sight Loss Council Member and event organiser, says:

“My first experience of audio description opened up a whole new world of the arts and entertainment to me in a way I could never have dreamed would be possible! Being able to enjoy theatre, TV, galleries, museums, sports and so much more is wonderful and truly liberating. I really do hope this event will encourage others to join this fantastic world of audio description”.

Light refreshments will be provided. Anyone who would like to continue the conversation can join members from London Sight Loss Council at a local pub for drinks afterwards (self-funded).

Spaces are limited, therefore only one companion per attendee is permitted. This will enable as many blind and partially sighted people as possible to experience this insight into audio description.

Are you unable to attend this event but would like to experience The Postal Museum and Mail Rail? There is a separate Audio Described tour at The Postal Museum on 14 September at 2.30pm.
